Their Family Support Specialist came into my life without any judgment. She listened to me, validated me, and even understood when I said, ‘I don’t know how to be a mom, and she’s my 3rd child.’ She taught me forgiveness, integrity, compassion, accountability, and guidance.

I make all my referrals to their program for parent training and support due to the fact that they are professional, easy to work with and culturally appropriate.

Family SkillBuilders Specialists that I’ve worked with have been easy to engage with, both for me and the client. Good listeners, keen observation and critical thinking skills. I’ve been very impressed with FSB’s ability to assess safety and family functioning WHILE considering the family’s circumstances/culture, etc. FSB Specialists have been very solution-oriented, non-judgmental, compassionate, and down to earth. Thank you for your prompt attention to my request yesterday! One of your Specialists was able to meet with the family yesterday afternoon (which is amazing!) and they were in love with her before I even got there to finalize the initial plan. Not only did the family get the support they needed right away and did this ensure I was able to keep the kids in the home, but it made the conversation about what things will look like in the future and court involvement SO much easier when the family had a tangible experience to show how the agency will be supporting and intervening.

I called Family SkillBuilders again for more support when I felt overwhelmed. Once again, we were blessed—our Family Support Specialist provided so much information about my son’s diagnosis and reminded me that anything is possible.

She worked hard to break out of a generational pattern of poverty, criminality, and addiction. She knew recovery was more than just choosing not to use—it meant changing the way one thinks, processes emotions, and relates to others.

Family SkillBuilders provided her with new parenting tools, not just to manage her sons’ behavior, but to empathize with their emotional injuries.

Despite many setbacks, mom was determined to get her children back and committed to her sobriety. She not only worked through her own recovery but also advocated for improvements in the treatment programs that helped her.

I worked with a Specialist who was really amazing on a complex case. I always got reports and updates from the Specialist in a timely manner. I wish FSB was on referral more often because your ISRS services are great for families.
