April Lampien
As a Safe Visitation & Exchange Facilitator, April helps provide a safe, secure, and inviting environment for individual families with a history of domestic violence to visit and maintain valuable relationships between all parents and children.
Prior to coming to Family SkillBuilders, April served nine years in social services, in Oregon Aging and Disability Services and Self Sufficiency. She first discovered the social and human services field when she was a young mother looking to improve her childâs quality of life. April took a receptionist position with the Oregon Department of Human Services, an opportunity that would change her life. April found something that drove her soul as she helped others in her community thrive by becoming independent and self-sufficient. April eventually moved into case management, working directly to match families to programs and find essential resources.
Having been born and raised in a multicultural and bilingual household and fluent in Spanish, April had unique opportunities to work with community partners translating for domestic violence and child welfare programs. April was often the only bilingual staff in the rural offices where she worked. When April lost her mom to cancer, she felt pride in honoring her memory and native language by using her skills to help others.
Aprilâs favorite activity outside of work is thrifting. She grew up âtreasure huntingâ with her mother and loves the mystery of never knowing what youâll find next. Her home is a collection of vintage items that bring her joy. April thinks her super-power may be raising boys. Her five sons keep her extremely busy!
